MARGE: A Whole-Brain Learning Approach for Students and Teachers

Hygge_01As a scientist, I’ve spent an enjoyable career studying human memory, first studying patients with amnesic disorders and later using neuroimaging techniques to observe the brain in action. As a university professor, I taught memory courses and tried to present the research findings so that it could be applied toward everyday situations. MARGE–an acronym for five essential principles of learning: MOTIVATE, ATTEND, RELATE, GENERATE, EVALUATE–is a compilation of these endeavors.  Grounded in biological and psychological science, MARGE offers a whole-brain approach to understanding how students learn.
